Miley is 2

We had a wonderful celebration for Miley's 2nd birthday. Her friends Mason and Betty Jo (along with their parents and Stephanie too) joined us for a morning at the zoo. The kiddos enjoyed wagon rides, a visit from the blue macaw, coloring, and cupcakes. For those unfamiliar, the Pana'ewa Zoo is really amazing. From the second video you might think there are only feral chickens showcased...but that video was taken in the parking lot. Watch it and you'll get a glimpse at Miley's 2 year old attitude. How does she say "no" with such sass?

Miley loves the zoo and she loves her birthday as well. Although I don't think she's a fan of birthday candle smoke.

Miley is talking a lot more. I love the way she says "I'll get it."................"giddit" and "Right there".........."ride dare". I don't like the way she says, "Can I have that."......"Mine!" She likes to be involved with everything. She pushes the wet laundry into the dryer and closes the door. She'll help make dinner by standing on her stool and washing vegetables. She also likes to press the buttons on our appliances for smoothing making or coffee grinding. She loves to play in vehicles and has learned to insert the key into the ignition of the Nalu van. She pretend plays one game in which she'll fluff out a blanket and lay down saying, "asleep" and after a sixth of a second she yells "awake" and is up and at it again. This is one game that I would like to encourage to last longer. Miley loves Rhett. She'll give him toys and often wakes from naps questioning, "baby?" as in "Where's my bro mom it's time to play".

Here's a bit of face time for Rhett. What a flirt! More to come soon because he's taken is first bites of food, is starting to sit on his own, and is 6 months old.

Easter Fun

On Easter Saturday we hosted the

4th Annual Easter Beer (and Egg) hunt.

The beer hunt is a fun tradition Mike and Sarah introduced to us. It has changed a lot since the inaugural hunt. With the addition of many kids in our circle of friends, we've added egg hunting along with the beer hunting.
It is Authome fun for the whole family.

Miley had a blast. She is such a party girl! She was confused as to why there were eggs all over the yard, but her concern quickly dissipated when she learned we were picking them up. Miley, Betty Jo, and Este had a wonderful time together. They shared eggs, went swimming, ate pizza, danced, and partied all afternoon and evening. Perhaps it was the chocolate malt eggs that the older kids shared that made the girls rock out so long.

The beer hunt was fun. My favorite part was the after hunt boat race (drinking game), and the lovely mix of beers that Timber found while hunting. The best one: Koko Brown brewed by Kona brewing Co. YUM!

Fortunately the kids are great egg finders (I have only found one egg and it was plastic.) and the adults are lousy beer finders (Timber and I have each found beers in the back yard since the hunt.)
Thank you to all the participants, to our field marshals Sarah and Unky and the special guest appearance by Mike.

We hope you had a lovely Easter. Happy spring!
