Cloth Diapering

There's nothing like clean clothes hanging outside in the sun. If those clothes are cute little baby clothes, the joy and satisfaction is all the more vivid.

We decided to do cloth diapers for many reasons. There are ecological, monetary, and health reasons we take the extra time to cover Miley's bum with cloth. It is rewarding at times...and messy at others. Our main problem: Miley is small. The little elastic bands that should hug her thighs, hang open. Guess what likes to sneak out of those gaping holes. Uh Huh. So we end up doing a lot of wash.
We are hoping Miley will chub up soon. Nothing like a fat baby to snuggle with (and to make cloth diapering easier).

Birth Story

Miley came into this world with a bit of a bang. After 12 hours of hard labor and dilating to 9cm our midwife checked me and found it wasn't Miley's head that was descending into the birthing canal, but her bum. She was breach. The focus of my labor then became to stop pushing and to visualise keeping her inside long enough to get into the operating room. We made it through the stalled hour and a crew of doctors, midwifes, and nurses brought her safely into the world. (They had to untangle her from the umbilical cord which she was wearing as a double wrapped scarf.)

The entire experience was a blessing. Timber and I enjoyed working through labor together. It was empowering, epic, and transformative. It is just another authome experience we lived together. We both think the birth of Miley is our greatest accomplishment as a couple...now a family. We are glowing proud parents and know that our little girl is the most precious being in the universe. We can't wait for her to meet all of you.
