Just one week until our due date (May 4th). There for awhile we were thinking Miley would be late...but now we are both thinking it may be sooner. We've decided to take our hospital bag with us any time we head out from the house. Timber calls and checks up on me numerous times each day, and if I call him I am sure to tell him in the first sentence that I'm not in labor. That might change soon...
I've been feeling a few more contractions that resemble menstral cramps. This happens mostly in the evening as we start to go to sleep. I start to get excited that I might go into labor and end up staying up way too late all the while thinking, "If I do go into labor, I will really need sleep. Go to sleep!" Goodness nerves and an anxious mind make waiting difficult.
So...if you would like to make a guess about the date and time of Miley's birth, please send us an e-mail. We will announce the person with the closest guess when we announce Miley's birth. My guess....although I think she will be here sooner...is May 6th. I would like her to come on 5/6 because the date slides right into cosmic conspicuousness with my 6/7 birthday and our 7/8 wedding date.

Miley's Room
Miley's room is ready! It wouldn't have been possible without the help of our friends from the mainland Kelly and Dan (who taped the ceiling and floors to prep for painting) and Mac and Stephanie (who did a heap of touch up painting). These beautiful folks along with Timber saved me and Miley from having to smell paint fumes. Then, I got to play with the stenciles I made out of posterboard. I used two different shades of purple (the photos make them look pink). Then we hung the butterflies to swing in the breeze from the window. The room feels so cozy and bright. We're sure Miley will be comfortable in her new home.

Baby Shower
Our good friends Katie and Sarah hosted a baby shower for us this past weekend.
They decorated our cart port beautifully with flowers and baby items and invited all our close friends. They created fun games that kept everyne engaged. The gathering was amazing! We saw how much support and love we have as we become parents. I really appreciate our neighbors offering to help with everything from breastfeeding to baby sitting. I am grateful we have a tight community in which to start our family.
We received many wonderful gifts to help us. We are going to use cloth diapers and our friends helped purchase the arsenal of inserts and covers that will hold Miley's poo. We enjoyed the cute clothing, books, and stuffed animals. Check out the Mark with the Natty Ice...just what every parent needs (I'll get to have some soon.) The wooden cradle was restored by Brian down the street. The gliding chair was lovingly covered by Sarah.
I'm proud to say that the shower was a 12 hour festival. People simply felt the love and hung well into the evening sharing stories. This community is AUTHOME!A Baby Shower Mad Lib
This is the story of Miley's birth as described by one of the guests at our baby shower. It was composed in mad lib style.
Jean E stopped everything she was doing when she felt a sudden painful contraction in her piko (belly button). Of course, the first thing she did was go to the Hawaiian Paradise Park and sit, to keep her mind off the discomfort.
When the contractions become more frequent, Timber suggested that she eat, till she knew for sure she was in labor. She quickly declined. She was sure it was time to go to Seattle and give birth to her pretty baby.
Before leaving she called the yoga teacher and said she would be leaving right after she ran. Within 3 minutes of hanging up the phone, she was to the point where she could not even swim during a contraction. When Timber walked into e office ans saw her on her hands and knees talking, he said "we are going NOW!" and quickly packed up the BMW and got everything ready.
The drive to Seattle was exquisite. When Jean E arrived, the yoga teacher examined her. She was 9cm dilated and the baby's eye lash was right there. Th yoga teacher suggested she try spitting through a few contractions. It worked! Her plate broke. One more push and a loud BooYa later, the baby was born.
Baby Miley was so perfect, with an adorable foot and 2 fingers and toes. Everyone noticed immediately that the baby had her father's ear lobes and her mother's leg. She weighed 1901 pounds, 2009 ounces and was 1997 inches long.
Some notes...We are not swimming to Seattle to give birth.
We don't have a BMW...but it's on the baby registry if you want to get us one.
Timber does have cute ear lobes and I hope Miley gets them.
I have two legs and hope that Miley does as well.
I also hope she has a few more fingers and toes.
Cheers to whomever wrote this touching birth story! We loved it! Kudos to Katie for putting this activity together!
